🎉 Celebrating 18 Years of Mr Scan – Preserving Memories Since 2007

This November marks a very special milestone for Mr Scan – 18 years in business! From humble beginnings in a small Farnham workspace to our dedicated Oast House studio, we’re proud to have helped thousands of families preserve their most precious moments.

How It All Began

Back in 2007, our Managing Director Stuart Knight – a Farnham-based video specialist with a background in digital video and CCTV systems – was searching for a way to digitise his own 1990 APS film collection.

After hours of searching, Stuart discovered there wasn’t a suitable solution available in the UK. Determined not to give up, he looked across the Atlantic and found a dedicated film scanner in the USA that could finally do the job.

Once friends and family saw the results, they began asking if he could convert their films too — and that’s how Mr Scan was born.

Growing With Technology

With Stuart’s vast experience in digital video (since 1993), the business quickly expanded from scanning photos and slides to include video and cine film conversions. The goal was simple: to provide a one-stop solution for turning any old format of family memories into modern digital files — ready to relive, share, and enjoy again.

From VHS and Hi-8 tapes to 8 mm cine reels, slides, negatives, APS film and more, Mr Scan became known for quality, reliability, and a personal touch that only a family-run business can deliver.

A Family Business

Ten years ago, the company grew again when Rob Knight, Stuart’s brother, joined as a scanning technician. Together, they built a strong reputation for meticulous attention to detail and customer care — ensuring every project, big or small, received the same level of dedication.

A New Chapter in Farnham

In 2023, we took a major step forward by moving into our dedicated studio in Farnham — a beautiful Grade II-listed Oast House that perfectly reflects our love of craftsmanship and heritage. It’s here that our team continues to combine the best of modern technology with traditional care and passion.

Expanding Further – The Digitize Media Acquisition

Then, in 2025, came another exciting chapter: Mr Scan acquired Digitize Media, one of the UK’s leading slide and negative scanning specialists.

This strategic move brought two respected names together under one roof — combining Digitize Media’s specialist photo-scanning expertise with Mr Scan’s long-standing reputation for video, cine, and audio conversions.

For our customers, it means an even broader range of services, faster turnaround times, and the reassurance that every order is handled by the same Farnham-based team of experienced technicians who genuinely care about quality and detail.

Looking Ahead

Eighteen years on, our mission remains the same: to help families rediscover their memories and keep them safe for generations to come. Whether it’s an old cine reel, a shoebox of slides, or a stack of VHS tapes, we’re here to bring them back to life.
