DIGITAL ICE Technology – Removes most Surface Defects (dust and scratches) –
Please note that photo prints are very static so attract very small fragments of dust, we do all we can to remove this dust before scanning and also use software to reduce the effect afterwards it is not guaranteed to be 100% dust free, especially with older and darker photos. If additional work is required on your images we can offer you or photo restore service to remove all marks using Photoshop.
DIGITAL ROC Technology – Restores and Corrects Colour – if you don’t require colour to be restored please let us know this on your paperwork.
DIGITAL GEM Technology – Reduces Film Grain Noise
*Scanning from Photo Albums/Damaged or glue mounted photos
We do ask that all photos are removed from photo albums where possible, if it is not possible to remove a photo from an album without damaging it then we can scan from the album directly.
- Due to the extra amount of time this takes we charge more for this service as priced above.
- This includes photos mounted to card or previously mounted on card or in albums that still have hard/part card on back.
- Focusing – If photos are scanned from an album sometimes they may have focus issues due to the thickness of the album and how close they are to the spine edge. We see this in around 3-4% of photos in albums, the only way to solve this and get the focus 100% would be to remove or cut the photo from the album (This is a customer choice). If once you receive your digital images back you would like us to re-scan the photo to correct the focus just remove the photo if possible and pop it back to us, well do it for free* ( *at Mr Scan’s discretion)
- If albums have clear film covering photos then we will scan directly through this, sometimes this may be slightly visible on the scan but most of the time its fine. It will also attract more dust particles to the image which can be noticeable.
- Each photo will be scanned as a separate image
- Overlapping photos will either be cropped or contain overlapped part as per the album layout.
- Scanning of artwork is covered by our photo scanning service however we can never guarantee exact colour match to art work due to the way scanners see pencil or paint.
- We can not be held responsible for any album that starts to fall apart when scanning, remember some of these albums are decades old and are very fragile. We will of course do our best to preserve the original condition.
- If photos have been removed from album and still have glue or tape mounted to the back then they still need to be scanned using our album mounted service due to the thickness of the photo.
- This also includes card or glass mounted photos.
Image order and Grouping – We are sorry it is not possible guarantee any particular order or groups. With printed photographs we use multiple scanners where photo order sequences are not possible. We will do all we can to group together. If photos are grouped in small groups less than 25 then there is an additional image grouping charge per group folder.
