At Mr. Scan Ltd, our vision is to achieve family memories into one easily accessible digital format which can be shared with your entire family at the click of a button. We believe that efficient and accessible digital memories are the cornerstone of progress in the digital age, and we are committed to helping you unlock the full potential of your family digital legacy.

Who We Are? Mr. Scan Ltd was founded by digital video engineer Stuart Knight back in 2007 when he found a gap in the market for a quality service offering digital solutions from old photos and home videos, so Mr Scan was born. Our team of experts have increased since our early days with every team member having a deep understanding of scanning technology, ensuring that we deliver the best results every time.

We work for customers throughout the UK and Europe, via mail order or local drop ins.

We carry out hundreds of small to large home projects for members of the public who are looking to achieve their family history in digital form. We have also carried out many large digital conversion projects for county councils, celebrities, art galleries and other large companies who require a professional service they can trust.

Our priority is to ensure that personal touch to all our customers treasured memories and keep our service affordable.

We want to stand out from the crowd, we want to be different and most of all we want to give you a service you will want again and again.

With the capacity to scan over 3000+ images daily bulk orders are no problem.

We are an Eco-Friendly company, we cut down on waste and recycle wherever possible.

From the moment we receive your films they are our responsibility, and we do everything within our power to look after and store your films in the correct manor, we know they are your memories and treat them with respect.

Brilliant service. I had a mixture of LPs and cassette tapes that I wanted preserving. Stuart said don't do it if it's stuff you can download, which was good so you don't spend money unnecessarily. As this was unique stuff from 40 years ago downloading wasn't an option. The service was easy to use, friendly and very quick. Will definitely be my go to place for any future requirements.

Had many of my old APS films scanned by Mr Scan so I can view them online in the future and share. Job done as promised and promptly. The files were easy to download & the originals were returned a couple of days later. Far more efficient than any scanning I could do at home, and at decent price per film too.

I just wanted to say thanks so much for a superb job you have done on the slides. I’m really astounded at the quality. These belonged to my grandfather and are coming up to around 60+ years old. A few years ago my cousin and I had tried scanning them in individually, trying to colour correct and enhance the quality, but that was nothing compared to what you have achieved. It’s like we’re looking at them for the first time. I had no idea that they were all colour slides. I assumed they would be black and white.

My dad and extended family, who were kids in those photos, are suitably impressed and extremely happy. Thank you so much for your care and attention.

Thank you Mr Scan. I sent off over 80 precious family slides from the 1970’s to MrScan. The photos contained precious memories. Mr Scan returned the slides and memory stick promptly, neatly and securely packaged and the results are wonderful. Clear images, precious memories accessible once again. Our Professional Equipment

At Mr Scan Ltd, we invest heavily in industry-leading professional scanning equipment, with systems worth tens of thousands of pounds. Your films only get one chance to be scanned properly — so it’s important to get it right the first time.

Many competitors rely on entry-level or domestic scanners such as standard Nikon or Canon units. These are designed for light home use, not high-volume professional workflows. They often produce lower-quality results and, in some cases, can even risk damaging original film.

Our Studio

We work FULL-TIME in our dedicated digital legacy studio located within the a grade 2 listed oast-house in Farnham town centre.

We are NOT a part-time business run from a family home for some extra cash in the evenings. Some of our competitors have scanners set up in their family kitchens or bedrooms.

Mr Scan advice – Always run a Google Street View check on the address where you will be sending your precious films.

Our Team

We are not just another faceless website company working part-time from home. All our staff are full-time and always happy to chat through your project, you can discuss your requirements and we can talk you through every part of our service if required.

Our technicians are well qualified engineers with many years of experience in digital imagery and video with a passion for photography and video.

Backup data of your images is stored on our 200TB RAID storage unit until you have received your order are completely happy with the result. In accordance with our terms and conditions regarding our delivery process.

We never share any customer details with anybody, all data and images are kept in house. Also we do not send junk emails.

Mr Scan only use state of the art scanners to produce the perfect image, we do not use any of these DIY home scanners available in the back of newspapers or at your usual PC store, these DIY units offer very poor quality images in comparison and mostly with no or little dust removal technology.

Our previous contracts include photo archiving for many county councils, universities, celebrities, art galleries and doctors surgeries, scanning the entire stamp collection for Royal Mail, BBC, Marine life for the Scottish Government, Library and Archive Services for the Welsh Government and many more camera clubs and institutes

Anybody can scan but we’re experts of our field. We know what the scanning industry is all about. Please be aware of dodgy backstreet companies, you need to be able to fully trust the person or company that you are sending your life time of memories to.

Many people think it easy to buy a cheap domestic scanner, set up a basic website and expect to be able to run a successful digital scanning company, Mr Scan has worked for many years in this industry and has a glowing reputation with all our customers including large companies and high profile customers, if you are comparing us to other please fully check what the competition are offering, do they really have all the credentials that they boast to have on their website, are they really using professional equipment, how long have they been trading?

Our Scanning Equipment – Why Quality Matters

At Mr Scan Ltd, we invest heavily in true professional scanning equipment — not off-the-shelf domestic scanners designed for occasional home use. Many companies claim to offer “professional scanning,” yet rely on the same consumer machines you can buy in high street shops or online. We simply do not — and never will — operate that way.

Our scanners are built for high-volume, precision archival work, using the latest imaging technology to extract maximum detail, colour accuracy, and dynamic range from your original film, negatives, and slides.

What truly sets us apart is that several of our scanners have been physically modified and integrated into our own bespoke workflow, powered by software developed in-house at Mr Scan. This is not something you can buy, copy, or download — it is the result of years of testing, refinement, and real-world professional scanning experience. The result is scan quality that meets the expectations of serious photographers, archivists, and professional image users.

We are completely transparent about the equipment we use — because we have nothing to hide. We actively encourage customers to ask other providers exactly what scanners they are using. You may find many are vague, avoid the question, or confirm they are using domestic consumer scanners. These machines were never designed for continuous professional scanning environments.

From our extensive in-house testing over many years, we know that some consumer scanners — when used heavily or incorrectly — can place unnecessary mechanical stress on film and mounted slides. When you are trusting someone with irreplaceable memories, that risk simply is not acceptable.

Pakon F series Plus – 8 x High Resolution Scanners

The F-Series is a high quality Film Scanner for 35mm (negative, positive, or B&W) or APS. The F-Series scans rolls up to forty images, as well as strips down to two frames.
